Laughable Linguistic Linking – Social Media Edition

Nov 22 2007

So, I was sitting around reading up on all the latest and greatest in the BlogosphereNews when the thought came to me that I really need to come up with something unique. Something that will help me stand out from the pack of “me too” blogs. Something that will get me so much traffic that I do a Backflip when I look at my traffic stats. Something that will really get my name out there on the Newsvine as a noted authority in my field.

Social Media Sites

But then, I look around at the long BlinkList of blogs out there that cover my industry and my head starts to Sphinn. How, in this huge LinkedIn market can a person make their BloggingZoom to the top? It seems you need a huge Propeller to thrust your blog into the spotlight. The fact is, most blogs never become more than a little Blue Dot on some arbitrary BlogMarks chart somewhere.

Refusing to give up, I continue to Digg into the industry in the hope that, one day, I’ll StumbleUpon that one phrase, that one Del.icio.us morsel of knowledge that sets the light off in my head. Simpy put, I refuse to DropJack. Instead, I will continue to work with those who Feed Me Links and RawSugar that keeps me coming back.

In the meantime, I will enjoy the Netvouz and continue to contribute my little Blinkbits and peices from MySpace on the web, this blog. While some may consider this site the mindless ramblings of a Twitter, and I can easily vouch that the Technorati have yet to start following me everywhere I go like I’m Mister Wong, I still get the occasional LinkaGoGo, which feels good.

While MyBlogLog may be on the Tailrank of the industry, I occasionally get a Wink from an A-lister. While the traffic I get from these nods is hardly that of a Slashdot effect, it’s still good to know that something I wrote was good enough for them to read. How I know they actually Reddit is because they either comment on my post, submit it to a social media site, or link back to it from their site.

I think one of the most valuable things I’ve learned by having this blog is that, no matter if you are an average American Rojo or your a Diigo half way across the world, all you have to do is get yourself a Furl, install Wordpress, and start blogging about your Magnolia (if that’s what you are passionate about) and eventually, you will find someone with the same interests you can connect with.

Some might object to just letting it all hang out on your blog, but I say Fark it! If all you care about is saving Facebook and pleasing other people, which makes me want to Spurl, then you’re missing out on a lot of the fun of being on the web.
