How Often Do You Say I love You?
Look around you. Is there a person beside you that you love? Are there family members nearby that you love? What about your close friends, do you value and love them as well?
In this uncertain world that we live in, there is a lesson I’ve learned the hard way that I wish to share. You can never take for granted that a person will be their later for you to express your appreciation and love to. Life is very short and those we love are often gone long before we expect it. What do you want your last words to be to any person in your life that you feel genuine value and love for?
Yes, I know this is a bit Corny coming from me, but I learned this lesson very early in life and I believe it to be so very true. Show you’re appreciation for those you love, regardless of the situation, so that your last words are filled with appreciation, respect and love.
Regardless of whether you are angry, resentful, hurt, under appreciated, heart broken or just plain mad, when you look in your heart, what do you feel for the person you are facing? Do you feel love? If so, say it! That person may step out into the street and get hit by a bus. They may eat a meal that is rife with Salmonella. They may owe a bookie and have a contract out on them. You never know! At any given moment, it could be their time, or your time to go.
So, I ask again, what do you want your last words to be?
Personally, I never, ever take for granted that a person I love will be there later. As my last words to anyone I sincerely love, I make it a point to tell them, “I love you.”
None of us knows the exact minute we will move on. Nor do we know this for anyone else. We should take every opportunity we can to express our love for those around us. You never know when the last time will be.
To those of you who truly know my heart, I love you!

I don’t think this was corny at all James. I probably don’t say it as much as I should to those I love, and after my wife and I separated and got back together I rarely say it to her like I used to. Thanks for the reminder…
I so completely agree with you.
Before my hubby and I became an exclusive item. He had to make me a promise: The only thing he is never allow to do (or me) is to go to sleep or leave the house without saying I love you. Why? Because I want to make sure that he always knows it. I could never live with myself knowing the last words we said to each other were out of anger.
We’ve been together almost 7 years and are just shy of our 2nd anniversary, and have yet to break that promise.

I haven’t said I love you since 2 years ago, It’s very difficult to me to show my feelings
I totally agree, and like Angie, my diseased wife and me had the same setup. I think there’s a lot of positive sides to this, somehow it’s easier to keep a positive frame of mind at work or wherever you go when you know you’re loved and the one you love know you love them. Besides, if anything were to happen (like it did with me), it’s nice to know the last things that was said to eachother were out of love and not hate. Great site you have here by the way
Yes, it’s important that we say the words ‘I love you’ as often as we can. I and my husband always remind each other that we love one another every time we had some disagreement. We make it a point to settle our differences before we go to sleep at night.
Saying i love you is very difficult for me but when time come then it come suddenly outside our mouth
I am very shy saying i love you to someone i love, it’s very difficult. especially to my parents, it feels like corny..=)
It is very much true. Tell your loved ones how you love them at what you feel for them. Life is short. It is never too late to say I love you. Don’t just say “I love you” but also thank them also for filling your life with love and happiness.
Nice and interesting piece… Thanks for the read
Yeah. I dont really like sayng “i love you” that often. Because I think when i say that too often it will deteriorate its meaning. it will become an ordinary word like “hello” or “hi”. But i make sure that with the things that im doing, i always make the person that i love that i really love them. “I love you” doesnt always need to be uttered to tell to the person you love that you love them, its sometimes what you do to them or with them that really says “i love you”. Great post, I just do it anyway to let them know that i really do love them. Great post!!
Interesting article!
Thank you for posting!
That was a brilliant post. I agree with that we never know when is our time. Actually in my experience, I’m not a wordy type of person especially in terms of saying to my loved ones “I love you”. I am much more in action. Mostly, I tried saying that word by means of letter or i try to show it with my actions and care to them. Even though I’m not telling them what i really mean still I show it through the actions I’ve taken.
Good article but i have never said any one that i love her:D
Not really often actually, but i think its ok if i say it twice a week.
It is important to say “I love you” to your loved ones, but it will be more meaningful if you will show your love for them. You will not just say it, prove it!
Every morning when i look in the mirror!
actually I’m hate to the people saying it everyday specially if it is loud it looks over acting.
Its cheesy but its TRUE! Those 3 words are essential to say especially for the people we love. Its simple to say it to your boyfriend or girlfriend, but there are some people who find it corny to say I LOVE YOU to their mother father, grandparents.. why is that? HMmm.. well I think, its better to say I LOVE YOU right now before its too late.
This isn’t corny at all. Saying “i love you” to the one you love makes that person really loved by you. It’s nice if you will say it to them always because we’ll never know when our time here will be over. I must admit that I am not that showy person but I make sure that I do something to make my family and love one feel that I love them no matter what happen. So if you love a person, tell them or show them. It’s free anyway.
You are so right and I love that you wrote about this. Life gets so busy and we get into routines and before you know it you take what you have for granted. Sometimes i think, “My husband knows how much I love him I don’t need to tell him everyday” but I do need to tell him everyday. Thanks for the reminder.
It is the perfect balance of retaining the love in your memory, and not over doing it so that it gets boring.
You can never say i love you enough. It sounds cheesy, but it’s better for people to know that you care about them than for them not to!
With how many people I love in my life, I’m sometimes disappointed in myself at how rarely I verbally acknowledge it…….thanks for the gentle reminder to be more proactive:)
Saying I love you to someone you really love is sweet. As long as you are true to your feelings and you can prove it.
I don’t usually utter ” I love you” to my love ones but I’m perfectly sure I don’t missed to show it in action.
Saying I love you requires sincerity. It does not depends on how many times you utter it it depends on how you show it for your love ones to feel it.
love does not need to be spoken with words, but can be showed with our attitude towards the people we love, a good article thank you
Actions count too.. Its not enough if you just say it, you have to show it. How to show it is a complex thing, its not just buying things, when a particular moment comes where someone needs your love, you have to be there for them.
Interesting article with message. Thanks for posting.
John
This is a very lovely post and I agree with you.
i said only one to my friend…and she rejected
I often say my favorite people that I love them. I say to them when I really feel love and not without reason, as some people say. I think that is really nice because it is a love of the most beautiful in the world.
I LOVE those three little words…saying and hearing them! I tell people I love that I love them as much as I can…love love love!
Frankly, it’s hard for me to say I love you. We’d rather express our love with action rather than with words. Our beloved family know we love each other without saying I love you.
I tell my six year old son I love him, and give him a kiss every time I drop him at school. (I’m a male)
I’m just making the most of it before it becomes “not cool” for him to have his dad give him a kiss in front of his friends!
Usually when my wife makes me.
@ Netflix Trial: LOL!!
Good one!
I totally agree. but sometimes you love which person, that person never love you.
Agree with you 100%
I show my love to my family through cooking delicious foods for them, taking care of them when they’re ill, and listening to them when they have something to say. But saying the words ‘I love you’ is still easier when texting or writing notes for them. I’d always end my messages: ‘Love you, Mom.’
It’s good thanks for sharing…

How Often Do You Say I love You? – http://shar.es/XNA
Actually I was thinking about it and I say it at least 3-4 times a day lol
Good reminder, James.
It brings to mind a story about a little old couple that had been married 75 years and were being interviewed by the local and regional news channels. During the interview, they were asked what tips they might have for having such a long marriage. The husband replied “Tell your wife you love her” and the wife nodded her head. The interviewer commented – “In 75 years, you must have said that quite a bit”. To which the old man replied – “Nope. Just once.” “Only once?!” came the puzzled response. “Yep, and I told her if I ever changed my mind, I’d let her know”
Nobody say to me “I love you” so sad
“I Love you” is a good words for everybody in the world
)
I totally agree with you in this matter. I also think we should speak out our mind without hesitation, because no one knows what’s going to happen tomorrow. Nice article man. Keep writing such interesting articles.
I Love you is a magical word which itself has a very deep meaning & to tell somebody u care for is a way to show your loves ones that you are always there with them no matter how the situation would be. it gives a seance of security and surety to the person.
I love you – those 3 words are strong ones.. In england there are people who use it everyday – and more than need – i love u babe and so on
I use it only to my ladies and i think i mean it – but honestly – i think you cannot love to much
Interesting post. Thank you for reminding me.
love is the word which encourages a person to get through all ups and downs.
love is just like a medicine for all pains,
when u say ” I LOve You” to someones you heal all his wounds and makes his life worth living
love is art love is worship
love is not easy it give hardship
but if it blooms it give light
like a star in the night
so say your beloved that you love , it will change lives
Hey i have my best love and i never forgot say i love you
Lots of people forget to say the most important things to the most important people in their lives – this is a reminder for those of us that forget. Guilty as charged – thanks!
I say I love you all the time!
I make sure my spouse knows – even when I am salty in that direction.
I make sure my rugrats know, too. That is very important to me
This post was quite cheesy, yes… But great things can be cheesy, such as mac & cheese, pizza, and nachos.
I not often say I love you…. but i have not girlfriend..
Very moving post. We often forget to think about important things like this. Thanks!
I’m very thankful that there are lots of people around me who loves me not only by saying “I love you,” but showing it through actions. I’m grateful I have my family members who loves and support me as well as my friends.
I say love to you several times a day for the Lord
very good post family and friends is the whole world.
very nice post. necessary to build our relationships stronger
I am not a romantic guy, and these three words -i love you- are very difficult to say. not those words are hard, but i am not the type of person who would just say it. for me, love is expressed through actions.
I am not a romantic guy, and these three words -i love you- are very difficult to say. not those words are hard, but i am not the type of person who would just say it. for me, love is expressed through actions.
When it comes with my family and friends
I don’t say I LOVE YOU to them.
My action will take the move.
I am not really expressive in terms of
showing my love to other but deep inside I
really care a lot.
I haven’t said I love you since 1 years ago, It’s very difficult to me to show my feelings to anyone.
I often say I love to my parents, but recently I haven’t.
I am not a vocal person, saying I love you to my mom I often do.But I always make sure she feels that I really care and love her through action.Action speaks louder than voice right?
I told my husband I LOVE YOU the day he proposed…it’s 20 years now……..
At least, i said twice in a day to my beloved wife
I must tell my lady 10-15 times a day.
I do really love her.
Nice blog, thanks.
Cheers
Expressing love is very important, may be they already know that you love them, but feels good either!
My parents are getting older and I try to tell them I love them every time we talk. Nice article, thanks for sharing.
simple questions but hard content, maybe love is not just the feeling that when my heart is happy with you, then i loved you, love is more that that, love is not say by the word, love is whenever you’re angry, whenever you’re sad, whenever you’re hate, they are not going anywhere from yours, they just forgotten by you just for a moment, and they’re still in you’re deep heart whenever you feel anything in anytime, that was true love, because i’m not person who likes to showing or performing some lovely behaviour that im really look like i love you, i just a hated boy with unfriendly face, but yes i still look handsome anyway, hehe… just kidding
I say it all the time. To my shoes, to my mail, to my action figures, to my Faberge eggs.
I say it atleast 30 time a day… i really feel the way i say… i love love it…
Proud to say that I not only tell my wife I love her every day, I make sure to send her teary-eyed text messages too.
Cute post. Makes us all a little more grateful, for which I’m grateful
I say it to everyone I love. In the past year I have lost my grandfather and an aunt, and looking back I didn’t tell them enough. Therefore, I have vowed to tell everyone I love I love them as much as possible. Its definitely not corny!
I always say I LOVE YOU in my prayers
This page was beautiful. can benefit from reading comments. Thank you for sharing
That’s a funny question. I say it almost many times in a day..lol!!
i like this entry, thank you
never say it enough

Sonum Rana.
I always make a point of letting those close to me know that I love them. There is nothing wrong with telling friends, family, and the like that you love them.
Interesting article!
Thank you for posting!
Indeed it is important that in this short life we enjoy people, I respect and love him. Sometimes love is where you expect less.
I’ve been very busy with many things in life, but I never forget saying i love you to the people I love you so many times each day.
I believe that you cant turn back what is lost, so I am not taking chances not to do the things I love to do… one of it is letting the people I love know, that they are loved.
My wife and I say it 3-4 times a day probably, I’m very lucky to have her in my life
I have said this divine words ‘I love you’ several times to many girls.love is the most beautiful feeling.
I say it all the time because you never know if you will see that person ever again… Its fine to express your feeling towards someone that you love..
Once a week. Seriously.
.
My wife tells me twice a week
hehe
what a love we hav…
Bogdan
The love which is not returned back, is the sob of our mind. So, I will be very careful about to say these three words.
I always do…very nice post..thanks for sharing..
I actually think that it is easier for a guy to say I Love You than a girl, assuming the guy is truly in love.
I say it several times a day to my Better Half – before I go to work, in text messages, at the end of phone calls, on a night after work and before bed.
It may only be three words, but they can be so reassuring.
Very good tips. Comments are important to the whole idea of the blog. When you post, you end up expecting to see what kind of feedback people might send you, what kind of impression you´re giving the readers. Comments are indeed very important!
Thanks for a lovely post.
Hi ! I really like this post. The word love is not just four letters. It a word which can change our life. I think the word love we can’t say very often in front of anyone. But yes, if we love someone then we can. These three word are very important in your life. I often think it but actually saying those 3 words is very hard. Thanks for sharing this nice article.
I’ve always found this YouTube clip (well, ok, this song) to really hit me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_dN1WXBxuw
It’s by Extreme. More than Words.
If you listen carefully, it talks about SHOWING your love, not just saying it. Yes, people (your family, friends, etc) need to hear it. But, they also need to see it.
If you don’t show them love, they may leave to find someone who will. Do you want that?
Very good article. My guy never told me – I love you and I too. We love each other, but never thought how important to say about it.
Richard Bandler said that he woke up every day and made a specific plan to love his wife more than the day before. Why don’t more people do this?
This is my first time @ this blog and I really enjoyed your articles, great work
what a great info, but i love you full!!:)pram from Indonesia.
I say I love you all the time!
I make sure my wif knows, she also tells me every night before we go to bed, even when we have been arguing.
I say I LOVE YOU ALL the time
Most people have taken the word i love you today just as a form of decieving others.i think you shoulmd tell someone “I LOVE YOU only when it comes from your heart.
love is very complicated to me,…i will say this for rigt person that i loved
Our chinese people say I LOVE YOU in a little time.
if you love – say it more often!
I have a lot of people that I love. Most of them are families and best friends. I usually tell them how much I care and how much they really make my day brighter. But I rarely saying I love you since it’s not really common here. I usually show it using my action such as hugging, kissing, tapping, etc.
I personally don’t often say ‘I Love You’ but I know what you are pointing out. What you said hit me. You know, we will never know when one of our loved ones or even ourselves will die, that’s why it is really never corny or what to tell our loved ones how much we love them. There is a concept of ‘It’s never too late..’ BUT we must also consider the thought of ‘NO NEXT TIME’.
Thanks this type of interesting post. Actually I do not think it is a corny at all. I love deeply several friends, seniors, juniors and family members. But very few time I say that I LOVE YOU. In fact I express this feelings different ways. The process of my expression is what my love towards them are not little at all.
I haven’t really say “I love you” to anyone, even to my parents, i fine it’s hard to speak out.
I Love to say these three works all people whome are my dear one’s.
Nice one really .. i will call my mom now and say i love you
best regards
Hmmmmmm everyday, whenever I feel saying it to my wife.
An Excellent blog! The world would be a better place if half of the people would say “I love you.” to others.
everytime i phone my honey i say i love you, nice post
Saying i love you is not corny. For me, I can say is that it gives an added value to your relationship.. I used to say I love you to my husband and 2 sons everyday. Those 3 words gives magic specially when it talks about family matters.
I used to say I love you with my husband and my two children everyday. It is your way to make your relationship grow stronger and more intimate.
i love to say that but i didn’t say to anyone.
I have not told I love you to any one yet…
i just say it yesterday, and i love him very much.
I probably say “i love you” about 3 times a day; mostly to my girlfriend of over a year. It’s not uncommon i dont think.
O I love you too….. i say it almost minimum of two time in a day…
I say it quite often to the ones that I love. It’s impotant to show your feelings, let them know that you love them and they are being loved. Excellent blog~!
In my hometown, I love you just said to wife, so even to my parents, i find it’s hard to speak that.
aww….thats a touching article…i feel sad for not saying it much to my loved ones
yes i agree with you, i think we must say i love you every day
whao! That was an interesting post. Although i don’t say those words often, but i feel deeply appreciated when someone tells me “i love you”. I did not learn to say it in my early days, but i am really trying to do that now.
Hye nice post but i you must have to say fast to your loved one unless they go far.
Love you, it’s so sweety to say that.
I love you is a good daily greeting, don’t be shy to say it.
my answer to this question is: not often! and if you repeat this every 10 minutes – wording will make no sense…
Really interesting post..most of the times it becomes difficult to say I love you, even if you know that you love that person…it is really tricky situation
We have to say it – but only when we really feel it.
Not like a traditional phrase – I LOVE YOU!
My trust in human nature does not extend that far to say them to all and sundry. And to whom they matter, they know it without me putting it in so many words.
I love you. Heck.
Love is the delusion that one woman differs from another.
Love is the child of illusion and the parent of disillusion.
I tend to say I love you alot. You never know when your days will come to an end.
I wouldn’t worry yourself about it too much… it could be as simple as it just makes him a little uncomfortable.. but to be honest.. me and my girlfriend say it like 20 times a day… I love to tell her how much I love her all of the time.
Life is an interesting thing… and love should help us to live… so – say it!!!!
