First Post of the Year – Seven Days Late
Oh my, how time flies! I’ve been a bad boy and I should be severely flogged for my negligence of this blog.
So, what happened? How after months of steady blogging could I disappear for a week from my regular routine of posting every couple days? How could I break from such a comfortable routine of posting and socializing with fellow bloggers?
Some wild theories abound about my absence from blogging over the past week. Here are a few of my favorites.
-
There has been speculation that, after speaking out rather passionately against Google’s policy on paid links, that I was held by the Google Gestapo for interrogation. It is suspected that techniques such as threatening with permanent de-indexing, assignment of a PR0, and public humiliation via being singled out as an example of what not to do on Matt Cutts blog were used to try to silence my criticism of such a asinine policy.
Well, as much as I hate to disillusion any of the Google fanboys out there, this is not the case. In fact, I have a wonderful relationship with Google and I still use their products daily. Actually, I’m even considering becoming an SMB partner for their Google Apps program. Companies make dumb moves sometimes. That doesn’t mean you should throw the baby out with the bath water.

There were also rumors that, while taking a nice New Years walk, I mysteriously vanished only to be found five days later naked and in the fetal position on a park bench; unaware of where I was, who I was, and what I had been doing for the past five days. Some of the more imaginative members of my family surmised that I must have been abducted by aliens. They go on to speculate that after thorough examination by the alien life forms, the conclusion they came to is that, indeed, there is no intelligent life on earth.
Again, as much as I hate to disillusion my beloved family members with colorful personalities, I was not abducted by aliens and subjected to examination. I’ve lost track of a few days before in the past and have awaken in some very unusual places, but alas, those days were long ago and had more to do with Wild Turkey 101 than they did with alien visitors.

There has been some speculation that I finally lost what is left of my fragile and twisted mind and was committed to the asylum.
While the jury is still out on my overal mental state, I can assure you that they have not come to take me away, hehe, haha, to the funny farm… yet!
So, where have I been and what have I been doing? Well, I’d like to have a colorful story for you illustrating all kinds of fun adventures involving interesting people. Unfortunately, I do not have such a story to tell. The truth of the matter is much more mundane and not even remotely enjoyable.
Since New Years day, I have been down with the Flu. Then, on Monday the 7th, I started my new job at my old college.
Yup, that’s it. Nothing special or exciting, just daily life.
With starting my new jobs (yes plural) at my old college and with returning to being a full-time student as well, I’m not entirely sure where this blog will fit into the picture. One of my goals for this year is to spend less time at my computer and more time with family. However, I’ve come to really enjoy this blog and the host of people who frequent it, so I’m sure I’ll continue to write here as much as time permits. This is something that I will have to give serious consideration over the next few days.
In any event, I hope that your New Years was better than mine. I hope this first week of the new year has been enjoyable and rewarding.
I may not be posting as often, but I will still post as often as I can. Until next time…
